            In Timor-Leste, a "município" (municipality) is the highest level of administrative division in the country. Timor-Leste has 13 municipalities, each with its own local government and administrative structures. These municipalities are further subdivided into administrative posts, which consist of several sucos (villages or communities).

The country is divided into the following 13 municipalities, each with unique characteristics:
